Patricia (Smith) Carr

Mrs. Patricia Smith Carr, 61, of 1736 Hill Circle Garland, passed away January 15 at home after battling cancer.  She was born February 3, 1959 in Bladen County to the late Ernest and Doris Smith. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Judy C. Smith.

Mrs. Carr worked at her family’s business Garland Farm Supply from the time she was a teen until her death.  She was an active member of the Garland PFWB Church.  She loved to travel, eat pasta, and watch the Andy Griffith Show.  She will be remembered as a loving, kind, compassionate person who always put others ahead of herself.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Garland Cemetery with the Rev Dewey Ball officiating.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her daughter Bonnie Fakhri and son-in-law Iyad Fakhri of Plainveiw NC.  She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Vickie Smith of Garland, Eddie Smith of Garland, Robert and Candace Smith of Orangeburg SC, and Linda Hysel of Garland as well as 7 nephews and 4 nieces and several great nieces and nephews.  In additional she is survived by her friends who were as close as family, Mr. Coleman Cain, Mrs. Barbara Black and Ms. Jazzmin Goodman, along with several feline family members.

The family wishes to thank everyone who called, prayed, send cards and texts, provided food, and visited during Mrs. Carr’s illness.  The family also wishes to thank Dr. Stacy Telloni of Duke Women’s Cancer Center and the staff of 3HC hospice care for their compassionate care of Mrs. Carr during her illness.

The family will receive friends on Sunday after the service at the cemetery.
