Thelma Faye (Smith) Evans

May 22, 1932 — March 29, 2021

Harrells

Mrs. Thelma Faye Evans, 88, of 186 Walter K. Evans Rd, Harrells, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at her residence.

Thelma Faye was born May 22, 1932 in Pender County to the late Jessie Lee and Thelma Alice Smith. She never worked a public job, so to speak. But she managed a small farm, helped plant the garden and canned and preserved for the year from it. She could help her children skin a deer; cook Squirrel, wild Turkey (where you could eat it and like it); rabbit; coon; frog legs; you name it. She fought for her family, and I mean fought the devil and hell for them, if need be she’d let you smell some gun powder! She taught the Bible in Sunday school at Riverside Baptist. She cared greatly for others and she was sure of her salvation in Christ alone. Thelma Faye is preceded in death by her husband: Frank G. Evans, daughter-in-law: Debbie Sue Mote Evans and her grandson: Jason Evans.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 03, 2021 at Riverside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 5043 NC Hwy 210, Harrells. Interment will follow the service in the churches cemetery. Rev. Scott Conner and Rev. Tim Evans will preside over the service.

Thelma Faye leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Reverend Tim Evans and wife Amy of Wade, Lee Evans and wife Fran of Harrells, one daughter: Elizabeth Faircloth and husband Jim of Harrells, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters: Sylvia Wells and husband Joe of Harrells, Diane Lippincutt and husband Tom of Wilmington and one sister-in-law: Linda Smith of Summerville, SC.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, April 03, 2021 from 12:00-12:45 PM at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Praise be to God that Thelma Faye has met the Lord face to face; and reunited with her husband and loved ones; and all of heaven.
