Nicole Monique Owens

Ms. Nicole Monique Owens, 52, of 2322 Old US 701 Hwy, Clinton NC, passed away on August 13, 2024, at UNC Chapel Hill. Nicole was born in Brooklyn, NY to Gloristeen Owens and the late Louis Sumpter. She is preceded in death by grandmother: Hazel Treadwell, brother: Christopher Owens, nephew: Joe Ravenell, great aunt: Helen Vann, and Harold Underwood. 

A Viewing will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 1:00-6:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC. The family will be present from 4:00-6:00 PM. 

Nicole leaves to cherish her memory, her mother: Gloristeen Owens, 2 sisters: Cathy Ravenell, of Blythewood, SC; Cassandra Owens of Brooklyn, NY, 2 brothers: Vincent Sumpter, and Darrian Owens of Brooklyn, NY. 

She cherished her family deeply, holding them close to her heart. Though she never had children of her own, she was a second mother to many nieces and nephews, offering them love and guidance. Her joy was found in the company of loved ones, and she was known for her vibrant spirit, love for all things pink, and a soul deeply moved by music. A woman of strong convictions, she touched the lives of everyone she met. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, spending time at the beach, and caring for her family.  

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
