Mr. William Daniel Newkirk, 72, of 2872 Dr. Kerr Road, died on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
A private graveside service, family only will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 A. M. at the Newkirk Family Cemetery.
Mr. Newkirk was born in Sampson County to the late Elder and Martha Henry Newkirk.
Mr. Newkirk is survived by: two sons, William D. Newkirk, of Wilmington and William Raynard, Bridgeport, CT; daughter, Angie Newkirk, of Bridgeport, CT; three sisters, Jeanette Imes, of Queens, NY, Icey Newkirk, of Bridgeport, CT and Sylvia Newkirk, of Ivanhoe, NC; two brothers, Edward Newkirk, of Bridgeport, CT and Oliver Newkirk, of Wurzburg, Germany; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 1:00 till 7:00 P. M. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland with the family present from 6:00 till 7:00.
