Mr. O.L. Croom Jr., 72, of Garland died Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
O.L. was a Captain in the US Army and served in Vietnam as a commander of a Special Forces unit. He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and 4 Bronze stars with V for valor.
After retiring from the Army he worked with Hillman Godwin Realty.
As a Shriner, he was a member of the Sudan Motor Escort and was passionate about riding in parades to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
O.L. recently received his emblem for 50 years as a Master Mason.
Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2pm at Ingold Baptist Church by the Reverend Clay Carter and Reverend Jimmy Atkinson. Burial will follow in the Ingold Cemetery, with Military honors and Masonic rites.
Mr. Croom is survived by one daughter, LeAnna Carter Croom of Garland, one son, Oliver Lewis Croom III and wife Tiffani, and one grandson, Oliver Lewis Croom IV of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm., Friday, August 30, 2013 at Carter Funeral Home in Garland and at other times at the home: 2367 Old US 701 Hwy, Clinton, 28328.
