Mr. Donald Francis Smith

Donald Francis Smith 62 of 3712 Crockett's Cove, Wytheville, VA, formerly of Garland died peacefully in the early morning of September 11, 2015, after bravely fighting a prolonged illness. His wife, Cheki, who was steadfastly at his side during his illness, was at his bedside when he passed.

The middle son of the late Jessie Ruth (Cain) and Wadeus Smith, Donald was originally from Cypress Creek, NC. He enjoyed many years hunting with his father, brothers, and lifelong friends, as well as tending his grapevines and establishing a family business. In recent years, Donald fell in love with a quiet place nestled in the mountains of Virginia. It is here that he and his wife Cheki have made their home, in the Cove where their friends soon became family.

Donald was a true Renaissance man of seemingly limitless talent and ability. He was an entrepreneur, an outdoorsman, a vintner, an artist and builder, a master chef and barbecuer. He was a gracious host, a
