Milton Ray Smith, 72 of Bladen County died December 14, 2016. Family and friends will participate in a Memorial Gathering on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Smith Family Cemetery on Mote Road. He has requested that there be no flowers but rather asks family and friends to plant a tree in his honor on their property or some public place.
Milton was born February 18, 1944 in Bladen County. He is the son of Alford T. Smith and Macy McDuffie Smith and is the youngest of 7 children. His siblings: Juanita Smith Hilton, Donnie Smith Carter, Lee Roy Smith, Keith Smith, Lacy Smith and Bobby Smith. In addition, he has many nieces and nephews and an endless group of cousins in Bladen and adjoining counties.
For many years Milton worked with genealogy and built a large database of family history information on his own ancestors as well as other connected families in Bladen and adjoining counties. That research was shared with people throughout the years. His life moto: “I searched for love in life and found it bit by bit, in my own way.
