Mavis (Hogan) Mclamb

Mrs. Mavis Hogan McLamb joined her Jesus in Heaven on December 19, 2022, at her home in Rockingham. Mavis was born May 06, 1935, in Rockingham to the late Charles and Pauline Hogan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: David McLamb. She was the baby of 10 and was preceded by her brother: Eugene Hogan, and seven sisters: Edna Hogan; Lena Mae Eady; Elgie Croake; Elizabeth Carter; Ruby Stein; Frances Clark; and Inez Goodman.

Mavis married the love of her life, David McLamb, in May 1959 in Virginia. After the birth of 2 daughters, Sandra and Barbara, they returned to Ingold, NC, where she was introduced to farm life. Mavis became a registered nurse immediately after high school and between Virginia, Sampson Memorial Hospital, and Bladen County Hospital, she “clocked in” 60 years as an “Angel of Mercy”.

Mavis was fun-loving and adored her grandbabies. She was nicknamed “Bucky” by her first grandchild, Kenny. She loved gospel music, mountain trips to see her favorite gospel groups, church, family, and friends who all loved her quick wit and her generous nature.

Mavis leaves behind two daughters: Sandra Taylor and husband Tim of Ingold; Barbara Singletary and husband Ronnie of Rockingham, three grandsons: Kenny McMillan of Wilmington; Kevin McMillan and wife Aimee of Ingold; and Zachary McMillan of Ingold, three great-grandchildren: Lauren McMillan of Ingold; Cole McMillan of Ingold; and Declan McMillan of Wilmington, and one brother: Bill Hogan and wife Vivian.

A viewing will be Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland with services immediately following at 2:00 PM, by the Rev. Alfred Evans. Burial will be at McLamb Cemetery in Ingold.
