Mason Lee Barnes

September 10, 1999 — July 22, 2016

Mason was a gift from heaven delivered on September 10, 1999 and he shared God’s love and light with everyone he encountered, most often with a smile and multiple bear hugs for those he adored in life.  His gentle spirit and the love he freely gave to others will forever be remembered.  While we regret not having one last hug before he left this earth on July 22, 2016, Mason was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly Father where he was reunited with his grandpa Tom.  In heaven, Mason will forever be surrounded with a love that is bigger than anything we shared with him in this life.

Mason had an inquisitive mind and a thirst of knowledge.  He was an accomplished student at Union High School preparing for his senior year.  He was passionate about JROTC and serving his country.  He enjoyed adventures with his friends, celebrations with family - especially his amazing birthday parties and Christmas – making people laugh and a wide variety of music.

Mason leaves behind his loving mother, Brandy, who shared a deep and special connection with her baby; a proud father, Bobby Jr., who always gave him careful and firm guidance on becoming a leader and living a purposeful life; and a beloved sister, Magen, that he shared a beautiful bond.  Additionally, Mason was loved by his grandparents, Shirley Buchanan, Jennifer Morris, and his pop, Bobby Barnes as well as multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and a collection of friends that he cherished deeply.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Union High School, 1189 Kader Merritt Rd., Rose Hill, NC.  Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery, 3687 Norris Rd, Garland, NC.

In lieu of flowers, tune up your car, sing a song, share a smile, meet a new friend, or enjoy a piece of cake, just please celebrate every minute of life – Mason would have wanted that for us all.

Service by Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
