Mary Deloris Moore

Mary Deloris Moore was born on July 19, 1937, in Gibson, North Carolina to the late Willie and Pauline Moore. She attended East High School and obtained her GED in 1983.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Carter Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrells, NC.

In 1955 she married the late Robert S. Hills. In that union they had 3 children; Maybelle Jones (deceased, October 1990), Robert (Cynthia) Hills and Ellen Fitzgerald. Amongst her children, she was blessed with 16 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-great Grandchildren.

Mary relocated from North Carolina to Rochester, New York in 1956. During that time, she worked for Michael Sterns and later went to cosmetology school where she obtained her license to do hair. In 1978-1990, Mary became employed by the Eastman Kodak Company. She received many recognitions, awards and certificates for training, perfect attendance and quality control.

Mary Moore was a member of Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board and later became chief of the usher board. She volunteered her time in a number of organizations. After many years, Mary became a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board having a willingness to serve in any capacity.

Mary departed this life on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017, and leaves to mourn her passing: 1 brother: Willie (Clarencine) Moore of Hamlet, NC; 1 sister: (deceased) Pearlie Mae Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
