Mrs. Margaret “Susan” (Fryar) Hooks, was born September 22, 1919 in Sampson County, NC the daughter of the late Ed Fryar and Susan Murphy Fryar. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Henry Hooks, two Sons: James Franklin Hooks, and Robert Henry Hooks, and her daughter, Margaret Hooks Sellars. Eight brothers: William B. Fryar, James Fryar, Justice S. Fryar, Franklin B. Fryar, Graham S. Fryar, Davis Fryar, Elliot Fryar, and Sylvester Fryar. Her four sisters: Ezzie Fryar Stackhouse, Victoria Fryar Murphy, Ethel Fryar Hayes, and Jannie Fryar Morrisey. Two Grandchildren: US Army Staff Sergeant Jeffery T. Sellars, and Angelia Sampson, One Great-Grandson, Derrick Beatty.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 10, 2020 at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hooks is survived by: Her Son: Leroy W. Hooks Sr. (Patty) of Wallace, NC, Son-In-Law: Jeffery Sellars of Harrells, NC, Seven Grandchildren: Donna Stevens (Kelvin) of Delway, NC., Tammy Sellars-Tatum, of Harrells, NC, (Retired US Army) Michael Sellars (Josalette) of Fayetteville NC, Lisa S. Joyner of Harrells, NC., Fransonia B. Sellars of Orange Park, Fl., Leroy W. Hooks Jr. of Wallace, NC., Lena Boney (Jeffery) of Wallace, NC. Also, Ten Great-Grandchildren, and four Great-Great Grandchildren. And a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A walk through visitation will be held in light of the recent restrictions due to the coronavirus. Friends may come by Carter Funeral Home in Garland on Thursday, April 09 from 1:00 P.M until 6:00 PM to pay their respects to Mrs. Hooks.
