Louis D. Mathis made his transition to his eternal home at 12:43 on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Louis was born June 22, 1960 in Roseboro, NC to the late Haywood L. Mathis and Johnnie Mae Melvin McFadden. Louis is preceded in death by two nephews; Bobby L. Mathis and Nathan L. Mathis.

He graduated from Lakewood High School on June 04, 1977 and joined the Army on December 10, 1977. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX and also served a tour in North Korea. Louis attended church at Robinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Roseboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Robinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Roseboro, NC.

Louis’ life will be forever cherished in the lives of his siblings; Ossie Robinson (L. J.) of Roseboro, NC, Harold L. Mathis (Cynthia) of Roswell, GA, Julia Thompson of Asheboro, NC, Sharon Warren (Fred) of Roseboro, NC, and Doris K. Upchurch (Darryl) of Spring Lake, NC,  Aunts; Marrieta Melvin of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara Owens of Roseboro, NC, three Uncles; Claudia Owens (Sudie) of Roseboro, NC, Jerry Owens and John David Owens both of Baltimore, MD, a special nephews, Robert Reno Melvin and Johnnie Warren both of Roseboro, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces and friends whom he loved.
