Lillie Jane Thomas

Mrs. Lillie Jane (Murphy) Thomas, 92, of 17351 Garland Hwy., Garland, NC, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at her residence.

Lillie was born on June 06, 1932, in Sampson County, to the late: Paul Murphy and Mary Newton Murphy. In addition to her parents, Lillie is preceded in death by her husband: James Luther Thomas, and her daughter: Nancy Thomas Skinner, 4 brothers: Charlie Newton; Thad Murphy; Malkiah Murphy; David Murphy, and Willie Murphy. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Stephens AME Zion Church, 51 East 3rd St., Garland, NC. Interment to follow in the Garland Community Cemetery, Hill Circle Road, Garland, NC. 

Lillie leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters: Sheila Smith (Dean) of Garland; Veronica Thomas of Garland, three sons: James Garfield Thomas (Shirley) of Queens, NY; Luther R. Thomas (Wiladean) of Garner, NC; Clarkston Thomas (Connie) of Garland, 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends of the community. 

A Time of Remembrance will be held from 1:00-6:00 PM, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Carter Funeral Home, 111 N. Ingold Ave., Garland, NC. The family will be present from 5:00-6:00 PM.
