Joesph "Buck" Ellis Russ

Mr. Joseph “Buck” Russ, 78, of 192 Barnes Loop Rd., White Lake, NC passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Columbus County.

Mr. Russ was born in Bladen Co., NC the son of the late Edgar Wilson Russ and Annie Lue Norris Russ.  He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Chasidy Russ.  Mr. Russ was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany during the Vietnam Era.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M, Friday, October 02, 2020 at the Beards Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, White Lake, by the Reverend Barry Helms & Mr. Ralph Carter, Jr. with a public viewing 30 minutes prior to the service.

Mr. Russ is survived by one daughter Brandy Russ Moorehead and husband Chris of Garland, TX, one son, Bryan Russ wife Michelle of Mansfield, TX, one sister Ethelene Russ Barnes of White Lake, NC, one brother Elton Russ of White Lake, NC, 4 grandchildren, Jon Hunter Crook wife Carissa of Garland, TX, Wyatt Crook of Anna, TX, Laitlin Russ of Mansfield, TX, Michael Joseph Russ of Mansfield, TX, 3 great-grandchildren, Cessaley Russ Henderson, Rylie Russ Henderson, Serenity Russ Lanier all of Rowlett, TX and 2 beloved cats, Greasy and Dennie.

Buck was an Army Veteran who served as a medic during the Vietnam Conflict Era. He loved caring for stray animals, working outdoors, especially for Ralph Carter Farms, riding his motorcycle and was an avid reader.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ethelene Russ Barnes, 212 Barnes Loop Rd., White Lake, NC 28337.
