Jerry David Lewis, 77, of 8887 NC Hwy. 41 East, Harrells, NC passed away peacefully at West Bladen Assisted Living in Bladenboro, NC on August 12, 2020.
Mr. Lewis was born September 20, 1942 and raised in Tarheel, NC, and was the son of the late Carl Lewis and Eula Davis Lewis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alana Draper Lewis, and by a brother, Floyd Lewis.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Colly Chapel Church, 3857 Mote Road, Harrells, NC. Interment will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Delaware Veteran's Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a First Class Gunner’s Mate on two battleships, the U.S.S. Manley and the U.S. Dyess, and stationed throughout the Mediterranean. His most exciting time of his naval service was being a part of the blockade against Russia during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His career in life was a master electrician and plumber in Delaware. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He retired and returned to North Carolina in 2006.
He is survived by his daughter, Dayna Lewis of Portland, OR; his step-daughter, Julia Clark Johns, and son-in-law, Ted Johns, of Newark, DE; and his step-son, Michael Clark, and daughter-in-law, Heather Flavin Clark, of Dagsboro, DE; brothers, Carl Lewis of Hagerstown, MD and Charles Lewis of Harrells, NC; and 6 step-grandchildren.
