Gertrude "Gg" (Hayes) Greene

Ms. Gertrude “GG” Hayes Greene, 79, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Gertrude was born on February 22, 1942, in Sampson County. She is preceded in death by her husband Oliver Greene, mother Thelma Lamb, father Jeremiah Swain, step-father William Henry Lamb, brothers Hoisey Lamb and William Lamb Jr., and grandson De’Quantae O’Kelly.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Garland Community Cemetery in Garland.

GG leaves to cherish her memory three children: John Greene (Deena) of Greensboro, NC, Lovely Greene (Anthony) of Durham, NC and Torre Costin (Marii) of Buford, GA; Twelve grandchildren: Shirley Royston and DeWayne Johnson of Durham, NC, Otis Johnson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, TJ, Matthew Bell of Greensboro, NC, Meagan Bell of Washington, DC, Bronson Greene of Orlando, FL, Jaylen Watts, Jasean Watts, Jarryn Watts, Torre Costin II and Taiden Costin of Buford, GA; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters; Evelyn Lamb (Tracy) of North Haven, CT, Edna Hayes and Creola Hayes of Garland, NC, Linda Spearman (JB) of Irvington, NJ, and Patricia Lamb of Newark, NJ; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
