Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, 84, of 258 West 7th St. Garland, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at her residence.
Elizabeth was born July 10, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Matthew & Ann Carey. Mrs. Johnson was a Supervisor with Fleet Line/Garland Shirt Company for 50 years. Elizabeth volunteered as an EMT for the Garland Rescue Squad for 22 years, served as a Town Commissioner for Garland and was a faithful member and church secretary at Garland United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her son; Willie James Johnson Jr., two brothers; Johnny Carey, Ed Carey and one sister; Rita Strickland.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 04, 2021 at Garland Cemetery with the Reverend Chris O'Briant & Reverend Tim Gore officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM-10:45 AM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
Mrs. Johnson leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband; Willie Johnson, five daughters; Eileen Lewis and husband Darrell of Wade, Jackie Rich and husband Timmy of Asheboro, Mary Melvin of Garland, Margaret Cain of Garland, Patricia Johnson of Clinton, one brother; Robert "Bobby" Carey of Ingold, one sister; Rose Melvin of Wilmington, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
