Dr. Robert Jenkins Sr., 74, of 711 Wildcat Road, Harrells, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at his residence.
Robert was born on January 25, 1947, in New Kensington, PA to the late Robert and Thelma Jenkins. He graduated from New Kensington High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon receiving an honorary discharge, he began a long career as a state employee of Pennsylvania.
He married his longtime friend Gail Jenkins on July 20, 2001. They were happily married for over twenty years. Robert loved the Lord. As an expression of his dedication and commitment to his spiritual practice, Robert obtained his Doctorate in Theology. He loved his family, church family, and friends. He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Most importantly, he was a wonderful and nurturing pastor. Robert loved doing work for the Lord.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Jenkins, his son, Robert Jr., his brother, James Morris, his sister, Ezella Johnson, his grandson, Michael Brown Jr., and his great-grandson, Corey Estes III.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 01, 2021 at Harvest Time Church, 938 N. East Railroad St., Wallace, NC. Pastor McTuggle will be officiating the service.
Interment will take place later in the Rolling Green Memorial Park Cemetery in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Robert is survived by his second wife, Fay E. Robinson-Jenkins, one son, Russell Jenkins (Shana), daughters, Shayla Pitts, Tonya Smith, and Garnet Kirby, and by his grandchildren, Jakareiah, Eryn, Ja’Cyiah, Ja’Moria, Marilyn, Evan, Ciera, Qualin, Alonta, Alimayu, and Alyasha. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Royal, his brother, William Jenkins (Debra), and a host of nieces and nephews. Robert will be lovingly remembered and missed by all.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
