David "Kent" Dabbs

Kent Dabbs, age 54, died on Monday, November 13, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He lost his battle with liver disease and liver cancer.

Kent is survived by his wife: Joann Dabbs of Bladenboro, his daughter: Kimberly Dabbs (Jake) of Bladenboro, one sister: Carolyn Dabbs of Garland, and 3 grandchildren: Kaylee Dabbs, Haley Peedin, and Caleb Peedin, and his beloved dog: “Lucky”.

Kent was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to Joann for 37 years. He loved his family and nothing could compare to the love he had for his grandbabies. He spent every day of the last few months of his life with his grandchildren. He always had his dog “Lucky” with him!

Kent was an amazing auto mechanic. He started working on cars when he was 16 years old, helping Lacy Carter from Garland. He also worked with Cape Fear Tire in Elizabethtown, and Murphy Amaco in Garland for many years. He definitely knew his way around a vehicle. He was the “best” as everyone would often say!

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Garland Baptist Church, 55 W. 2nd St., Garland. Interment to follow in the Dabbs Family Cemetery, Garland, NC. Reverend Ed Rouse will be officiating the service.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Garland Baptist Church, 55 W. 2nd St., Garland.
