David Edward Bryant Sr.

October 31, 1949 — February 5, 2017

Mr. David Edward Bryant Sr. of 605 Sampson St., was born on October 31, 1949, to the late Deleon and Willie Mae Bryant in Dillon, South Carolina. He departed this life February 5, 2017 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina

David graduated from Clear Run High School and was drafted to serve in the United States Armed Forces.  He served in the Vietnam War, was awarded a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged. After leaving the military, David made his home in Roseboro, NC.  He owned & operated Bryant Concrete Service for over 25 years and shared his strong work ethic with his two sons. He joined Little Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and attended faithfully as long as his health permitted.  He loved good music and could be heard holding a strong, solid bass line in any song that he sang.

Funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday February 11, 2017 at Little Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church 1285 Bell Woods Rd., Clinton, NC, by Reverend Alice Jean Boykin, with military honors.  Burial will be at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake at a later date.

David leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, David Edward Bryant, Jr., Roseboro, NC; and Dana Bryant (Tamara), Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Evelyn Mathis and Ethel Marshall, Clinton, NC; a brother, Henry Bryant (Diane), Clinton, NC.  Five grandchildren: Zana, Dajon, Lauren, Jackson, and David, III - will forever cherish his memory. He had a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A Public viewing will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home.
