Charlie "Billy Boy" Herring

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory, O death, where is this sting? O grave where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 Mr. Charlie Henry Herring was called from his earthly home to be with the Lord. He was born March 19, 1947 to the late Fred and Thelma Smith Herring in the Hayes town community.

Charlie Henry (Coon) was educated in the Samson County public school system where he graduated from Clear Run High School, where he was a great basketball player.

Charlie Henry left home and moved north until he found his home in Los Angeles California where he resided until his death.

Other than his parents, one brother preceded him in death, Lee Oliver Herring.

Left to cherish his memory are one brother, Fred Herring Jr. of Durham, NC, three sisters, Mary Lois Underwood of Rose Hill, NC, Olivia Johnson (John) of Elizabethtown, NC, Vickie Hall (Warren) of Newport News, VA. A special friend, Joyce McKnight of Fayetteville, NC, six nieces, Denis Bryant, Tonya Colwell, Jenise Phillips, Vernice McLean, Jasmine Cromartie, Angel Herring, three nephews, Robert Johnson, Gregory Cromartie Jr. and Travis Colwell, two great nieces, three great nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Rev. 21:4)

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home by the Rev. Sandra Spell.
