Cary Gillis Bruton

Mr. Cary Gillis Bruton, 89, of Hampstead, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

Cary was born on December 07, 1934, in Pender County to the late George Allen and Zula Bruton. In addition to his parents, Cary is preceded in death by his son: Gerald Bruton, two siblings: George Allen Bruton, and Sandra Bruton Long. Cary enjoyed a long career as a Captain with Piedmont/U.S. Airways.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Garland Cemetery, 1030 Harrells Hwy, Garland, NC. Reverend Richard Smith and Mr. Rick Pitman will be officiating the service.

Cary leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 49 years: Frances Cain Bruton of the home, children: Tina Keys of Wilmington, Cary Gillis Bruton II of Charlotte, grandchildren: Kelly Keys; Cary Gillis Bruton III and wife Hope; Cary Gillis Bruton IV; Emily Bruton, and Candice Bruton Borjas, 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Joann Page; Linda Weaver; Jim Bruton; Pam Hall, and Buddy Bruton, special people in Cary’s heart: Johnny; Sue; Jennifer (The Brat); Melinda; April; Tammy; Rick; Richard; Jane; Annette; Ann, and many friends in the community. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
