“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”

- Winnie the Pooh

Billy Ray Honeycutt (66 years old) was born on September 17th, 1955 in Clinton, NC, and passed away Sunday night, April 10th, 2022 in the comfort of his home in Harrells, NC. He was the son of Parker and Nellie Honeycutt of Clinton, NC. He was preceded in death by his father Parker, his brother Larry Honeycutt and his wife Billie Jo Honeycutt. Dad worked many jobs over the course of his life but the job titles that meant the most to him were Husband, Father, and Papa. Nothing else ever came close to family on his list of priorities. He is survived by his daughter Jessica Sessoms and husband Freddie, his three grandchildren Cole, Maddi Rae, and Olivia Sessoms, and me (his son Jarrod Honeycutt). After our Mom passed, Dad retired from working and spent the majority of his time babysitting the grandkids. They were without question the most important things in this world to him and he wouldn’t trade anything for the time he got to spend with each one. He loved us all but they were the apple of his eye and would do anything for them. Dad is also survived by his mother Nellie, his brother Rufus Honeycutt and wife Glenda, and his other brother Earl Glenn Honeycutt and wife Carol. My father was a simple man who never did things simply (if you knew him you know EXACTLY what I mean haha). Everything he did had a purpose and more times than not his gut instinct proved to be right on point. He loved to pick and joke, his sense of humor was second to none. There were very few things my Dad loved as much as his family, but a close second would be Walt Disney World. It was his home away from home and where we made COUNTLESS memories. The world has lost a great man, but I know it was Heaven’s gain. I like to think when he woke up at the pearly gates there was a group of loved ones there to greet him singing Zipadee-Do-Da, but right in the front was the love of his life smiling from ear to ear welcoming him home. For those of us left behind the pain we feel is real, but it’s only selfishness wanting him back. My Dad is at peace now, reunited with his true love and I know there’s nowhere else he’d rather be.
