Born on April 21, 1937, in Sampson County NC, to the late Levy McKnight and Callie McKnight, she was the youngest of 2 children. Betty was raised with her younger sister Mary Newkirk in Tomahawk, NC. She has always been a supportive member of her church, Trinity AME Zion Church in Harrells NC.
Betty was educated in the Bladen County School system; she attended Garland Colored High School. She met her husband the late Henry Lee Robinson Sr., at an early age, when Henry (Bird Head) was working for her grandfather. Henry and Betty married and welcomed 9 children over the years. They moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1958.
Betty began her career at the Stephen Smith and later the Golden Slipper Nursing Facility, she enjoyed a long career as a CNA until she retired in 2006. As an entrepreneur she invested in real estate and selling Avon and Tupperware.
Betty enjoyed these hobbies: crocheting, gardening, baking, travelling back to her hometown Tomahawk NC, watching her favorite TV shows: All My Children, Young and the Restless, Blue Bloods, and let’s not forget how much she laughed watching, Leave it to Beaver, and sitting on the front porch with her good friend Ms. Marion.
Her passions have always been her family gatherings at her home, and supporting her family near and far.
Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Henry Lee Robinson Sr., and children: Levy Robinson; Sharon White; Henry Lee Jr.; Pamela Robinson, and Shannon Robinson. Her cherished friends: Ms. Penny, and Ms. Marion.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories, 2 sons: Gary Robinson (Sharon); Stephen Robinson, 2 daughters: Antionette Robinson, and Jacqueline Robinson, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, 2 nieces: Glenda Fennell, and Cheryl McKnight, and 1 nephew, Scott Johnson, her daughter-in-law: Vivian Miles, a host of cousins, her dear friend and coworker: Diane Dowgwillo, and her beloved cat: Minnie.
