Mrs. Barbara J. Peterson, of 8040 NC Hwy 210 W, Garland, NC, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at her residence. 

Barbara was born, March 02, 1945 in Bladen Co. the daughter of the late Johnnie Johnson and Annie Mae Smith Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Edwin Odell Peterson, three brothers, Bobby Johnson, Paul “Moody” Johnson, and Clayton Johnson.

Barbara retired from Bladen Co. Health Department. She was a pianist for several churches in the community, and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. 

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Evergreen Baptist Church, 9626 NC Hwy. 210 West, Autryville, NC by the Reverend Charles Davis, Reverend Richard Smith,  and Reverend Ray Carter. Burial will follow in the Peterson Cemetery, 4404 NC Hwy. 210 West, Garland, NC.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Edwin “Dale” O. Peterson Jr. and wife Tina of Smithfield, NC, Steve C. Peterson and wife Angie of Garland, 2 grandchildren, Emily Peterson of Smithfield and Craig Peterson of Garland. Sister-In-Law, Barbara Jean Johnson of Garland.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 1:45 P.M.-2:45 P.M. before the service at Evergreen Baptist Church Fellowship Hall., and other times at the home.
