Annie "Doodle" Julia Mcneil

On Friday, February 28, 2020 at Highsmith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, God called our beloved mother and sister Annie Julia McNeil from her earthly home to come be with him at his heavenly home, a place of eternal rest.

She was the daughter of the late John David Chestnutt and Mollie Jane Chestnutt. She was born on December 09, 1941 in Tomahawk, NC. She joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

Annie, also known as “Doddle” was the oldest of nine children. To know her, was to love her. She was a precious jewel that will always have an everlasting shine.

She received her formative education in the Sampson County Public Schools.

Annie was married to the late Johnnie B. McNeil, also preceding her in death were her children; Brenda Lee Chestnutt and Donnell Chestnutt, her sister; Mary Ruth Murphy, and her brother; Johnnie Chestnutt.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 07, 2020 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, by the Reverend Willie C. Alford.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She leaves to mourn: one son; Connie Ray Chestnutt, Harrells, NC, three daughters; Marilyn Chestnutt, Clinton, NC, Jennette Chestnutt (Mike), Louisville, KY, Lenora Anders, Suffolk, VA, three sisters; Lovest D. King, Wallace, NC, Glendale Matthis, Clinton, NC, Annie Ruth Owens, Roseboro, NC, three brothers; Willie Chestnutt, Garland, NC, James M. Chestnutt, Garland, NC, Wayne Chestnutt, Fayetteville, NC; mother-in-law; Irene McNeil, three sister-in-law’s; Violet McNeil, Geneva McNeil both of Garland, NC,Letha McNeil of Raleigh, NC, brother-in-law; William McNeil, twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The public will be received on Friday, March 06, 2020 from 1:00P.M.-6:00P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
