Mr. Amos Smith 81 of 361 Smith Mill Pond Rd., died Friday, November 10, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Mr. Smith was born February 13, 1936 in Bladen Co. the son of the late Sanford Smith & Grace Hilton Smith. Mr. Smith was a Navy Veteran, and retired from the Bladen Co. Sheriff’s Department after 28 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Smith, three sisters, Sally Lee, Sylvia B. Cain, and Carol Laymance, two brothers, Worth Smith and Doyle Smith
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Beards Chapel Baptist Church, by the Reverend Barry Helms, Mr. Ralph Carter Jr., and Reverend Tom Martin. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Alice C. Smith, daughter, Melinda S. Weissinger & husband Herb of Elizabethtown, NC, son, Arnold Smith & wife Susan, two brothers, Ralph Smith & wife Pearl, Baxter Smith & wife Shelia both of Garland, one grandson, Ray Smith of Kelly, one great-grandson, Hayden Smith of home, 2 great-granddaughters, Brooke Smith, Kaycee Rae Smith both of Kelly, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 6:00P.M.-8:00P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland, NC.
