Mr. Willmon H. Tillmon, Jr., known to many simply as “Jr.” was born in Georgiana, Alabama on December 16th, 1947, to the late Wilmon H. Tillmon, Sr. and Flora Mixon Tillmon. He was the youngest of nine siblings. He is survived by Bernice McDaniel, Mable Grigsby, Elvie T. Lee, and Willie Mae Stoverall.
He was preceded in death by Lenzie Tillmon, Meriam Fountain, Famous Tillmon, and Shirley Williams.
During his early childhood, he grew up in Daphne County, Alabama where he graduated from Daphne Technical School. Shortly after graduation and during the “Great Migration” he relocated to Hudson, NY, and began working with the Hudson Railroad System. Eventually, he moved to Pittsfield, MA, where he gained employment as a laboratory technician at Crane & Company for the next forty-two years.
In 1978, Willmon was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Delphine Tillman whom he lovingly referred to as “Nette”. They were then blessed with forty-five years of love and Happiness until the time of his demise.
Jr.’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to music, and enjoying nature from the comforts of his porch. He was also quite an avid sports fan. He rarely missed a practice or game of one of his children. To Jr., family was everything. He always cared for others. He was so full of life and never met a stranger. He always gave without remembering and received without forgetting.
He had four children whom he loved dearly: Demond Williamson, Gerard Tillman (deceased), Katrisha Tillman, and Jerry Rodriguez.
He leaves behind three grandchildren: Mason Williamson, Laila Tillman Suneus, and Piper Rodriguez, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.
On Monday morning, September 11th, 2023, our beloved Willmon Tillmon, Jr., transitioned peacefully by answering God’s call to go home to glory.
The family submits this brief account of his life as our final gesture of love.
He will be forever missed.
